Julie Fry and Hayden Glass are optimists who have written a book about the value migration can create for New Zealand if we update our policies for the technology age. We have had big flows of people in and out for more than a generation. A million New Zealand residents were born somewhere else and about the same number of people who were born in New Zealand now live outside the country. You might say we have a big stake in open borders.
